Colleen T. Schlabaugh, 84, of Elkhart, died Sunday morning, April 21, 2013 at her home. She was born May 12, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Tressa (Anderson) Perkins. On April 20, 1946 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elkhart, she married Donald Schlabaugh. He died Dec. 29, 2007 She is survived by a son, Robert M. Schlabaugh, of Edwardsburg, Michigan; a daughter, Diane C. (Jeff) Blankenberger, of Kokomo; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Janice Schlabaugh; daughter, Donna L. Weldy; sister, Rosemary Flauding; and two brothers, John and James Perkins. She was a 1945 graduate of Concord High School and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and the Elkhart Moose Lodge. She worked at Whitehall Laboratories, for 30 years before retiring in 1986. She was a faithful volunteer at the Window and Rescue Mission where she enjoyed serving meals. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday April 23, 2013, followed by a rosary service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Anthony Steinacker will officiate Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation.
