Clifford A. Hartman, 92, formerly of Syracuse, died early Sunday morning, July 9, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen. He was born May 22, 1914, in Wakarusa, Indiana, to Amos and Susan (Lehman) Hartman. He married Clara G. Litwiller on March 28, 1937, in Hopedale, Illinois. She died August 20, 2004. A retired farmer, Mr. Hartman moved to the area in 1950 and was a member of the Waterford Mennonite Church. He is survived by four sons, Lloyd (Judy) Hartman of Dayton, Ohio, Lyle (Marian) Hartman and Paul (Ethel) Hartman, both of Carmel, Indiana, and Merlin (Mary) Hartman of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother Freeman (Esther) Hartman of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; three sisters, Bertha Freed, Dorothy Toy and Viola Hostetler; four brothers, Willis, Clarence, Alphaeus and Gerald Hartman; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2006, funeral will be held at the Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. Pastors Tina Schlabach and John King of the Waterford Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery, Wakarusa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waterford Mennonite Church.
