Cleo A. Barnell Sr. 89, of Goshen, died Friday evening, November 15, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 3, 1924 in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Chester and Carmen (Roberts) Barnell. On February 5, 1944 he married Esther M. Reed in Sturgis, Michigan. She survives along with two daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Miller, of Middlebury, and Donna Barnell, of Greenwood; a son, Bud (Margaret) Barnell, of Seneca Falls, New York.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister. Mr. Barnell was a member of New Paris Missionary Church. He worked as plant superintendent for many of his 34 years at Turtle Top Industries, before his retirement in 2006 as plant inspector. The family would like to especially thank Chris Kauffman, with Goshen Care at Home Hospice, for her special care of Cleo these past weeks. Her gentle and kind spirit was a blessing to all. Friends may call one hour prior to the Monday, November 18, 2013, 2 pm celebration of life service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Fred McDowell, a nephew, will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Goshen Care at Home Hospice
