Chester R. “Chet” Bainter, 79, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, February 16, 2008, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Goshen on April 12, 1928, to George W. and Lydia (Drake) Bainter. He married Mary Kalb on July 16, 1949 in Goshen. She survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Bainter retired from Rieth-Riley Construction as a mechanic after 33 years of service. He was a lifetime member and past Governor of the Goshen Moose Lodge #836. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening and working on engines. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Gary R. (Zonea) Bainter of Bristol, and Ronald L. Bainter of Middlebury; a daughter, Linda K. (Steve) Franks of Goshen, five grandchildren; and a sister, Ethel Culp of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Chrisman on February 6, 2005 and a sister, Florence Moser. Friends will be received 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, at the funeral home. A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Clark will officiate. Cremation will follow and burial will be at a later time in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
