Charlotte Ruth Miller Bontrager

Charlotte Ruth Miller Bontrager, 74, of Elkhart, died late Saturday night, April 12, 2008, at Hubbard Hill Estates after a long illness. She was born in Elkhart on August 27, 1933, to the late Joni and Charlotte (Kauffman) Miller.  She married Marion Bontrager in Sturgis, Michigan on November 2, 1952.  He survives. Mrs. Bontrager graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1950 and moved back to the Elkhart area in 1964.  She worked as an administrative assistant for State Farm Insurance in the Claims Office until her retirement in 1996.  She was a member of the Belmont Mennonite Church.  She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Marion; a daughter, Jolene (Dick) Lehman of Elkhart; a son, Robert (Beth) Bontrager of Corvallis, Oregon; and five grandchildren, Scott and Brent Lehman and Jesse, Erin and Kevin Bontrager. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Miller Bontrager and Dorothy Miller Hochstetler; and three brothers, Alfred, Rollin and Walter Miller. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Belmont Mennonite Church, Elkhart.  Rev. Willard Swartley and Pastor Larry Rohrer will officiate. A private family burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to Goshen College, Alzheimer’s Foundation or Belmont Love Fund.
