Charles M. Ulrich

Charles M. Ulrich, 86, of Goshen, died Monday morning, September 29, 2008, at his daughter’s home. He was born in Middlebury, Indiana, on April 29, 1922, to Roy and Ruth (Eby) Ulrich.  He married Imogene E. Williams on December 15, 1942 in Medford, Oregon.  She preceded him on December 22, 2006. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Ulrich was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Goshen.  A veteran, he served in the US Army during World War II with General Patton’s Third Army in the 273rd Field Artillery in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe, earning five bronze stars. He worked as a lineman and supervisor for NIPSCO for 36 years. He is survived by a daughter, Susan (Vernie) Stover of Goshen; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Joan (Everett) Grimm, Janet (James) Miller, and Mary Lou (Ike) Heign, all of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene; a son, Lawrence Ulrich; and a brother, Harold Ulrich. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, at the funeral home. An 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Michael Tarner of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cornell Cemetery, Goshen with a military graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
