Charles Frederick Jordan (86) was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Michigan City on May 18, 1933. He passed away on February 27, 2020 at Hospice House, South Bend.
He is preceded in death by his two dear sisters, Evelyn (Hastings) and Jeanette (Johnson) and his beloved parents Carl F. and Frieda W. (Schroeder) Jordan. Charles was baptized June 11, 1933 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Michigan City.
In 1951 he graduated from Elston High School, Michigan City where he participated in service organizations including Jr. Red Cross. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Augusta, Georgia and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Charles attended Purdue University Northwest studying architectural drawing and worked for Walco Services and Tonn & Blank, building contractors in Michigan City.
He was an Energy Services Engineer for NIPSCO in the Goshen office and retired after 25 years. Charles was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church (now Faith Lutheran) in Goshen and served on church council, building programs and other committees over the years. He was a devoted follower of Christ and his faith was a major factor in his decision making and in life.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Yochum). They married on June 27, 1959 at Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley, Ohio. He was an adoring, devoted and dedicated husband for 61 years.
Charles is survived by three sons who are honored to have him as their father. Timothy Jordan, Goshen (former wife Cheryl Jordan, New Era, MI). Thomas (Faith) Jordan, Granger. Jonathan (Maren) Jordan, Brownsburg. His seven beloved grandchildren are Michael (Torey) Jordan of Muskegon, MI, Mark Jordan of Muskegon, MI, Sarah (A.J.) Ginevan of Charlotte, MI, Matthew (Katie) Jordan of Champaign, IL, Jennifer (Johnathon) Jordan of Ann Arbor, MI, Stephanie Jordan of Granger, IN and Madeleine Jordan of Brooklyn, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least are his adorable great grand-children Elisabeth, Noah and Alexis Jordan of Muskegon, MI.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until the 12 (noon) funeral service, Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen. Pastor John Hickey will officiate. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Faith Lutheran Church.
