Charles L. Hoke

Charles L. Hoke, 99, of Syracuse, died early Monday morning, February 18, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital.  He had been ill since Friday. He was born in Hart, Michigan, on March 26, 1908, to Daniel Samuel and Rosetta (Akers) Hoke.  He married Helen L. Hamblin on June 29, 1929, in Goshen.  She died in 1999. A lifetime farmer, Mr. Hoke also worked a Western Rubber and Bendix.  He enjoyed fishing. Mr. Hoke is survived by a daughter, JoAnn (Jim) Waggoner of Goshen, three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda L. Mann; four brothers, William, Earl, Gerald and Lawrence Hoke; and three sisters, Dorothy Kauffman, Edith Straw Kiefer and Mildred Marie Kurtz. Friends may call 12 to 1 p.m., Thursday, February 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be directed to the family.
