Charles D. “Chuck” Reed, 92, of Syracuse, died Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born March 28, 1925 in South Bend to John and Eva Reed.
On October 30, 1948 he married Aline Laughlin in Warsaw. She died January 7, 2008.
Survivors include four children, Charles D. (Judy) Reed, Terry (Penny) Reed, Carol Yoder and William (Venitsi) Reed, all of Goshen; a step-son Robert McKinley of Elkhart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Hughes of Syracuse and Midge Adams of Nappanee.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Roger L. Tomolonson and his beloved dog, Honey, a week ago.
He served with the U.S. Army and retired from Penn Controls where he worked for more than 40 years.
Chuck was a member of Healing Heart Community Church, Nappanee. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed auctions and built bird houses.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral service will take place. Pastor Todd Prough, Healing Heart Community Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.
