Charles L. Boehme, Sr.

July 31, 1941 — October 5, 2011

Charles L. Boehme, Sr., 70, of Elkhart, died Wednesday evening, October 5, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He had been ill since August 31. He was born July 31, 1941, in Logansport to the late Ruben Earl and Ida B. (Sloop) Boehme. He married Mary Ellen Mast on October 19, 1995, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Charles L. (Monica) Boehme, Jr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Charlotte (Edgar) Caudill and Carrol Tackett, both of Angola; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Freeman of Elkhart; two nieces, Deborah Bumpus and Diana (Randy) MacNeal, both of Elkhart; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Christian in 2006; two brothers, Fredrick and Carl Boehme and two sisters, Thelma "Dolly" Weimer and Mary Linback. A 20 year area resident, Mr. Boehme worked in maintenance at Gunite of Elkhart. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed watching football, especially the Indianapolis Colts. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 7, and one hour prior to the 11:30 a.m., funeral service on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. Pastors John Troyer and Oliver Yutzy will officiate. Burial will follow in Clinton Frame Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to M.D.A.
