Charles J. Beard, 89, of Millersburg died Wednesday afternoon, November 23, 2016 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born April 13, 1927 in Blakeley, West Virginia to James Franklin and Alma (Hudnall) Beard.
On May 19, 1951 he married Roberta Van Morris in Kanawha County, West Virginia. She died August 11 of this year.
Survivors include three sons, Scott Beard and companion Janette Yoder of Millersburg and Mike (Beth) Beard and Marty (Kim) Beard both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Yoder, Matthew (Marcile), Josh and Grace Beard; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Geneva (Chester) Allen of Charleston, West Virginia; and two brothers, Kenneth (Marlene) Beard of Belle, West Virginia and Donovan (Caroline) Beard of Pond Gap, West Virginia.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Hamrick and Esther Ramsey and two brothers, Woodrow and James Beard.
A U.S. Army veteran, Charles worked for the state of West Virginia highway department building bridges. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
Visitation will begin Monday, November 28, 2016 one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Retired Missionary Church Pastor Jim Breniser, will officiate.
Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery.
