Charlene Christophel, 93, of Goshen, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born September 29, 1924 in Middlebury to Noble and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter.
On Nov. 1, 1947 she married Theron Christophel at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. He died Aug. 1, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Buss of Pepperell, Massachusetts, Shirley “Crik” (Steve Zoller) Christophel of Mount Morris, New York, and Ronda (Chris) Miller of Newport News, Virginia; a son, Roger Christophel of South Bend; five grandchildren, Jesse (Jenn) Buss, Christopher (Jessica) Buss, Briana Buss, Sarah (Billy) Lemon, and Emily (Kendall) Wenger; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Deal of Goshen; and two brothers, Glen (RoseAnne) Showalter of Millersburg, and Dale (Sherry) Showalter of Goshen.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jay, Stahley, and Gerald Showalter; and a sister, Vesta Stroman.
Charlene graduated from Millersburg High School and attended Goshen College. She was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church and was a longtime waitress at the former Plain & Fancy Restaurant.
Friends and family may gather Friday, December 15, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Yellow Creek Cemetery, 64901 C. R. 11, Goshen, for a graveside service prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Bethany Christian Schools or Waterford Mennonite Church.
