Catherine Miller, 93, of Oakland, Maryland, and formerly of Goshen, died at her daughter's home Friday afternoon, September 12, 2008. She was born in Topeka, Indiana, on November 21, 1914, to Daniel E. and Magdalena “Maude” (Bontrager) Yoder. She married Cornelius Miller on November 30, 1933 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1990. A Goshen resident from 1940 to 2002, Mrs. Miller managed the Waterford Community School cafeteria for 19 years and then the Little Eden Camp cafeteria for six years in Onekama, Michigan. She was a charter member of the Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. She is survived by two daughters, Grace (Marvin) Slaubaugh of Wellman, Iowa, and Mary Ellen (Ralph) Lichty of Oakland, Maryland; two sons, Maurice Glen (Susan) Miller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and John Stanley (Rachel) Miller of Lawrence, Kansas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Maggie (Gerald) Yoder, Lucille (Ernest) Blue, and Mary (Alvin) Bontrager, all of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, John E. and Orva Jay Yoder; and four sisters, Alta Yoder, Ida May Yoder, Ruby Wyse, and Elma Stauffer. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Goshen. An 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2008, memorial service will be held at Waterford Mennonite Church. Rev. Neil Amstutz of Waterford Mennonite Church and Rev. Steve Sauder of Gortner Union Church, Oakland, Maryland, will officiate. A 9:00 a.m. graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen, or Gortner Union Church, Oakland, Maryland.
