Catherine E. Hartzler

April 13, 1916 — February 4, 2007

Catherine E. Hartzler, 90, of Elkhart, and formerly of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, February 4, 2007, at Beverly Living Center (Rosewood Terrace).   She was born in New Paris, Indiana, on April 13, 1916 to Adam and Mary (Leinvach) Fisher.  On April 18, 1937, she married John L. Hartzler in Elkhart.  He preceded her on July 14, 2001.   A life long area resident, Mrs. Hartzler was a member of the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.  She had worked as a custodian at Elkhart Hospital for 15 years.   She is survived by 3 daughters, Juanita Kaye Hartzler of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Laveta M. Randall of Bristol, Indiana, and Vivian D. (John) Hunt of Kansas City, Missouri; five sons, Ernest E. Hartzler of Terre Haute, Indiana, Lewis E. Hartzler of Angola, Indiana, Galen Hartzler, Kenneth J. (Janet) Hartzler of Manheim, Pennsylvania, and Wayne L. (Nicky) Hartzler of Terre Haute, Indiana; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a daughter, Ruby Hartzler; a brother, William Fisher; a half brother, Frank Fisher; and a half sister, Mary Pletcher.   Friends will be received 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, February 8, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.   A 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2007, funeral service will be held at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Katie Cunningham and Pastor Wes Bontreger of the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church will officiate.   Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.   Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons’ International or Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
