Catherine N. Baer, 85, of Goshen, died Friday evening, August 29, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Pigeon, Michigan, on January 15, 1923, to William and Anna (Schwartzentuber) Neuhauser. She married Joseph F. Baer on July 27, 1949 in Pigeon, Michigan. He survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Baer was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Mrs. Baer was a Sunday School teacher, church worker, quilter and volunteer at Greencroft and College Mennonite Church. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Joseph N. (Patricia) Baer of Alden, New York, and David L. (Patricia) Baer of Goshen; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Riegsecker of Goshen and Vera (Virgil) Kindy of Midland, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Twila Baer; and a brother, John Neuhauser. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 5 in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2008, at College Mennonite Church. Pastor Klaudia Smucker and Greencroft Chaplain Dee Swartz will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee.
