Carrie E. Haggerty, 85, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, Sept. 26, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 15, 1929 in Nappanee to Clifford and Ethel (Webster) Peters. On Dec. 16, 1967 she married Victor Haggerty. He died July 7, 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Rick) Meister of Knoxville, Tenn. and Carla (Calvin) Williams of Orange Park, Fla.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Jean Horn of Clearwater, Fla. and Nancy Black of Cromwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a great-grandson and a brother, Charles Peters. A lifetime resident of Nappanee and Wakarusa, Mrs. Haggerty was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church where she volunteered in their thrift store and the Nappanee V.F.W. Auxiliary. She worked at Vitrous Steel. Cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. A Wednesday, Oct. 1, memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., in the Gathering Place at Evergreen Place, 1300 Greencroft Drive. Greencroft Chaplain Vanette Kashmer will officiate.
