Carolyn G. Leichty, 83, of Goshen passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Waterford Crossing Healthcare.
She was born July 14, 1939 in Valparaiso to Harold and Sadie (Miller) Yoder.
On September 1, 1957 she married David F. Leichty, Jr. They enjoyed 50 years of happy marriage before he passed away, May 18, 2008.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Gari) Lewandowski of Bristol, Pamela Allen of Grapevine, Texas and Linda (Brent) Snyder of Bremen; seven grandchildren, Michael (Emily) Lewandowski, or Granger, Laura (Drew) Brinkoetter of Chicago, Austen Allen of Denver, Colorado, Britt Allen and Chandler (Hannah) Allen, both of Frisco, Texas, Brooke (Evan) Bourne of Liberty, Indiana, and Luke Snyder of Lexington, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Theo and Max Lewandowwski and Arlo and Jones Brinkoetter; a sister, Marilyn (Mike) Zellinger of Tuscon, Arizona; and a brother, Don (Beth) Yoder of Syracuse.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Yoder, and special friend, Don Lukeman.
Carolyn was a graduate of New Paris High School and member of College Mennonite Church, where she often volunteered in the kitchen. She owned and operated her own business, Peach Lane Designs, creating custom drapery and window treatments.
She was a loving homemaker with many interests. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, baking, reading, needlework, crafts, antiquing, and gardening, tending to her beautiful flower beds.
She also was a member of bowling leagues. A hobby she thoroughly enjoyed was hunting for Native American Artifacts, mainly arrowheads, on the family dairy farm.
Carolyn had a servant’s heart, always helping others. Family dinners, birthday and holiday gatherings were her source of joy. She will always be remembered for her love of humor and her infectious laugh.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Yoder will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
