Caroline Landis

Caroline “Sally” Landis, 87, of Indianapolis and formerly of Goshen, died Friday, July 11, 208, at Casselton Healthcare in Indianapolis. She was born in New York City, New York, on April 11, 1921, to Frank V. and Hulda C. (Conover) Magalhaes.  She married Donald E. Landis on March 16, 1943, in New York City in “The Little Church Around The Corner”.  He preceded her in death on September 25, 2007. A homemaker and long time Goshen resident, Mrs. Landis was a member of First United Methodist Church, Goshen.  She graduated from Northwestern University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta, and an honorary speech fraternity Zeta Phi Veta.  Locally she was a former member of the Goshen Board of Education, the Goshen Library Club, Psi Iota Xi and Friends of the Library.  She had worked as a case worker for the Department of Public Welfare. She is survived by a son, Larry S. (Carol) Landis of Indianapolis; two daughters, Carolyn L. Thurston of Indianapolis and Pamela L. (Gerald) Bollier of Indianapolis; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a sister, Dr. Hulda Magalhaes and a brother, General Willard s. Magalhaes. Friends may call 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, at First United Methodist Church, Goshen. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 9,2008, at the First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bosma Enterprises Low Vision Services or Indiana Nature Conservancy.
