Carol Jeanette Selman, 89, of Syracuse died Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at her son’s home surrounded by her family.
She was born September 30, 1934 in Kosciusko County to Eli and Amelia (Graybill) Whirledge.
On June 30, 1957 she married Paul Selman at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen.
She was survived by a daughter, Karen Selman of Casa Grande, Arizona: two sons, Ted (Sheila) Selman of Goshen and David (JoAnn) Selman of Syracuse; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Angel Grace Zuck; two sisters, Ruthe Kelly and Sarah “Betty” Bechtel, and three brothers, William, Edward and Phillip Whirledge.
Carol graduated from Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in 1955 and from Bluffton College in 1957 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She worked at Elkhart General Hospital for 29 years. She was a member of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Conrad Mast will officiate.
A private burial will take place at Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.
