Carol J. Miller

Carol Julia Miller, 88, passed away peacefully at Goshen Hospital on Saturday July 12, 2025.  She was born on September 13, 1936 in Koscisuko County, Indiana to Harley R. and Iva Miller.   She graduated from Milford High School and later married Owen Miller, Jr., on November 22, 1956.

Carol spent her early years on the family farm in Milford, Indiana doing chores, caring for animals and working in the Miller Strawberry patch.  She was a loving and energetic spirit, spending most of her time being a caring wife and mother while also being employed at Goshen Die Cutting, Universal Cooperatives and Behlen Mfg.   In her later years, Carol’s passion to serve others led to her employment as a caregiver for seniors until  she finally retired at age 87.

She had many interests along her journey including playing card games, baking, canning, sewing, reading her Bible and enjoying her 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She particularly enjoyed large family gatherings and could throw a large meal together with little effort.   She was also a member of Waterford Mennonite Church for over 50 years.  Carol’s strong faith and love of the Lord is best exemplified in a written note she left attached to her clothing she chose for her burial, which said, “I want to wear this robe for my funeral. This body isn’t going anywhere”.

Carol is survived by her four sons, Rodney Miller, Timothy (Kathy) Miller, Phillip (Bridget) Miller and Byron (Debbie) Miller; and four siblings, Orvel Miller, Norma Miller, Wayne (Fran) Miller and Wade (Mary) Miller.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Miller, Jr., a grandson, Reese A. Miller and a brother-in-law, David Miller, Jr.

The family will hold a private graveside service and burial at Violett Cemetery.
