Carol Hoogenboom

Carol A. Hoogenboom, 64, of Goshen, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 19, 2026.

Carol was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was the daughter of Cornelius “Corky” A. Hoogenboom and Shirley A. (Rassi) Hoogenboom. Her father preceded her in death.

She is survived by her mother, Shirley A. (Rassi) Hoogenboom of Goshen; brother, Chris A. Hoogenboom of Nappanee and sister, Carrie B. (Doug) Weldy of Goshen; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was a caring and generous person who found joy in the simple things in life. She had a special love for animals and was known as a devoted cat feeder and bird lover. Her compassion extended to the creatures around her, and she took pleasure in caring for them. She was also a giving person who touched the lives of those around her through her kindness and generosity.

Carol had a love of learning and pursued her education at Kellogg Community College, Southwestern Michigan College, and Western Michigan University, where she earned a doctorate in psychology. Her interests, curiosity, and dedication to learning were an important part of who she was. She was also proud of her Kiowa Native American ancestry.

She was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Goshen; and played the drums for the praise team at Greene Road Church. In her younger years Carol was active in athletics, including volleyball, basketball and track

Carol will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of animals, and the many ways she shared her kindness with others.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will also be one hour of visitation on Monday, October 26, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Rick Pinckney will officiate.

Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
