Carol Kathryn Eldridge, 85, of Goshen, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Sunday evening, August 4, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 15, 1928 in Goshen to Leonard Y. and Treva (Neterer) Cripe. She married John J. Eldridge Sept. 25, 1948 in Goshen. He survives along with three sons, David (Judith) and Douglas (Joyce), both of Goshen and Jeffrey (Tamela), Brown's Summit, N.C.; her son-in-law, Glenden Bontrager, Kendallville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly; her parents and brothers, Larry, Galen and Ned. Carol graduated from Goshen High School in 1946 and worked for many years as secretary for the superintendent of Goshen Community Schools. She also worked in management at H&R Block. In 1947, Carol served as Elkhart County Fair Queen. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and Maplecrest Country Club; and enjoyed playing the piano, playing bridge, traveling with her husband, John, and working in her flower gardens. She was a loving wife and mother who created a wonderful home for her family. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thurs., Aug. 8, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., Fri., Aug. 9, 2013, funeral service at First United Methodist Church, Goshen. Pastor Ed Fritz will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
