Carol A. Bushong

Carol Aileen (Greenawalt) Bushong, 76, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Carol was born July 17, 1950, in South Bend, to Dana G. and Laura M. (Bontrager) Greenawalt. She spent her early childhood in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula before returning to Indiana.

In 1976, Carol married James “Jim” Webster Bushong. They shared many years together until his passing on June 23, 2022.

Carol was the heart of her family and the matriarch who made every holiday memorable. Nothing made her happier than feeding people, and her food was the center of every family gathering. She loved to laugh, and her laugh was contagious. She loved winters in Florida with family. At home, she could often be found on her porch, lost in a good book or working a crossword puzzle. She was a devoted homemaker who gave her time freely to others, volunteering at The Window in Goshen and at the Lions Club and Café of Life in Bonita Springs, Florida. More than anything, she loved her family, and her caring heart and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her four children: Phillip (Shannon) Bushong of Topeka, Sara (David) Hoefer of Middlebury, Tara Manning of Goshen, and Andrew Bushong of Goshen. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom are a special part of her life and legacy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, her parents, and a grandson, Dakota Reed Bushong.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

A private burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka will take place at a later date.

Carol’s love for her family, her willingness to serve others, and the many lives she touched will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
