Carol Bauman, 83, of Wakarusa, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
She was born December 31, 1933 in Ontario, Canada where she married Lester B. Bauman June 8, 1957 and lived there until moving to Elkhart in 1970 for Lester to study at the Mennonite Biblical Seminary. They moved to upstate New York in 1973. There she worked as a family service worker for Head Start for 20 years. After retirement the couple moved to Kansas for three years before settling in the Goshen area.
As a member of Waterford Mennonite Church Carol loved and served her church faithfully. She delighted in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was well known for her laughter and warm hugs.
Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lester; two daughters, Charlotte (Ritch) Hochstetler of Elkhart and Phyllis (Kenton) Bontrager of Reisterstown, Maryland; three grandchildren, Leslie (Tyler) Huston, Austin Hochstetler and Ian Bontrager; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Wyatt and Laney Huston and a sister, Gladys Cressman of New Hamburg, Ontario.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmanuel and Ida (Bauman) Bauman; step-mother, Violet Bauman and three siblings, Florence Burkholder and Orvie and Howard Bauman.
Friends may call Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2 until the 3 p.m. memorial service at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Per Carol’s request, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
Memorials may be given to Waterford Mennonite Church.
