She spent over twenty-five years teaching public school before and after raising her family. In her retirement years she became an accomplished water color artist. She was a consummate hostess, welcoming all to her home. She was well read, and loved a good debate about politics or theology, and actively cultivated relationships with persons with a wide range of views and backgrounds. Throughout her life, she was a mentor to many young persons. She brought diverse people together and somehow managed to leave all involved feeling accepted and loved.
