Carl J. Bagley, Jr.

Carl J. Bagley, Jr., 64, of Goshen, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital.  He had been ill since the end of May. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 23, 1944, to the late Carl J. and Mildred Viola (Hobbs) Bagley.  He married Phyllis Rabb on July 2, 1965 in Kalamazoo.  She survives. A Goshen resident for the past 12 years. Mr. Bagley worked at Chore-Time Brock, Inc. as a laser machine operator.  He had previously worked at Fabri-Kal in Kalamazoo and Greenville, South Carolina for 28 years.  He had also worked for Syndicate Sales in Kokomo. A 1963 graduate of Portage Township High School in Portage, Michigan, he served in "B" Company, 6th Engineer Battalion of the US Marine Corp from 1962 to 1970. He is survived by his wife; two sons, George (Lisa) Bagley of Osceola and Lewis Bagley of South Bend; seven grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; and siblings, Patrica Bagley of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Dianne Pickrell of Portage, Michigan, Phyllis (Jeff) Jenkins of Lexington, Illinois, Rev. William (Gloria) Bagley of Preston, Idaho, Tim (Jeannie) Bagley of Aurora, Colorado, Jean (Kevin) Bowers and  Shannon (Jennifer) Bagley, both of Portage, Michigan. Friends may call 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, July 20, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Rev. William J. Bagley, Carl's brother, and Rev. Nelson Yoder of Mount Joy Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., in the Prairieville Cemetery, Prairieville, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Diabetes Association or Mount Joy Mennonite Church.
