Calvin L. Putnam, 78, of Goshen, went to be with the Lord on Friday night, April 2, 2010, with his wife and son at his side at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Mishawaka. He was born in Millersburg, on December 15, 1931, to Clarence and Mabel (Sharp) Putnam. He married Charlotte Martin on April 19, 1979, in Osceola. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Justin (Michelle) Putnam of Mishawaka, and Corey (Kristy) Putnam of South Bend; two daughters, Robin (Robby) Lawton and Jodi Putnam, both of Goshen; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Pearl Pierce. A member of Osceola Grace Brethren Church, Mr. Putnam worked in maintenance and grounds at Goshen General Hospital for 32 years. He loved watching the weather channel, doing word puzzles, and above all he loved his family and his work. He served with the US Army during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 5 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Justin Putnam, his son, will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorials may be given to Goshen General Hospital for a tree to be planted in his memory.
