C Sue Rankin

C. Sue Rankin, 59, of Goshen, died late Thursday afternoon, January 24, 2008, at her home following a short illness. She was born in Goshen on April 21, 1948, to the late Richard L. and Julia (Groff) Perrin.  She married John Buchtel in 1967 and he died November 1, 1994.  She then married C. Ed Rankin on June 29, 1996.  He survives. A lifelong Millersburg and Goshen resident, Mrs. Rankin graduated from Millersburg High School in 1966.  She worked at Salem Insurance for over 18 years, retiring as Office manager in 2000.  During her retirement years she worked at McIntosh Greenhouse because she loved working with plants. Mrs. Rankin enjoyed the out of doors, especially traveling and camping.  She was devoted to her flowers and vegetable gardens.  She was an avid reader of historical fiction.  She was also very artistic with flower arrangements and craft items. She is survived by her husband, Ed; a daughter, Miranda (Rodney) Cripe of Middlebury; a son, Steve (Laura Devine) Buchtel of Chicago; a step-daughter, Gail (Michael) Abernathy of Gainesville, Florida; five grandchildren; a sister, Lynn (James) Foltz of Goshen; and a brother, Dan (Marina) Perrin of Middlebury. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John. Friends will be received 3 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2008, memorial service will be held in Millersburg at the Zion Community Church.  Pastor Bob Doane will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Mission in Elkhart.
