Byron Roth

Byron Lee Roth, 83, of Goshen, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Goshen Hospital as a result of complications from a fall earlier in the week.

He was born October 22, 1933 in Goshen to Rollin and Cleota Roth.

Byron was a lifelong resident of the Goshen area. His career as an auto technician began in 1956, working for his father and brother at Roth Service. He went on to co-own R&K Service, and he and his wife opened Byron’s Car Care Center February 2, 1981. Byron was well known in the community for never leaving a conversation without saying, “Don’t forget… I love you!” Byron enjoyed serving others and was willing to drop everything for someone in need.

A Goshen High School graduate, Byron served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56, was a founding member of Jefferson Community Church, a charter member of Exchange Club of Elkhart County, a former member of Maplecrest Country Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed working on his stained glass, golfing and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (Ganger) Roth; two daughters, Pamela (Ken) Ingold of San Diego, California and Lecia (Stu) Lockerbie of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren: Steven, Brittany, Lucas and Rebecca and a great grandchild, Jericho.

His parents; brothers, Abe, Rollin, Jr. and Charles; and his daughter, Jennifer Lynn, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

A 10 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 funeral service will be held at Jefferson Community Church with Pastors Ken Hunn and Ken and Steve Ingold officiating.

Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Jefferson Community Church.
