Burton L. Showalter, 78, of Goshen died Saturday, November 12, 2022 at The Maples, Waterford Crossing Health Campus from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born January 23, 1944 in Goshen to Daniel B. and Helen M. (Kehr) Showalter.
On June 4, 1967 he married Sherry M. Ganger in Goshen. She died October 11, 2009.
Survivors include a son, Craig (Regina) Showalter of Goshen; two daughters, Tracy Showalter Perry of New Paris, and Lisa (Ed) Schmidt of Goshen; four grandchildren, Marcy (Joe) Clawson, Lucas Miller, Gracie Schmidt, and Kyla Schmidt; a great-grandson, Daniel Clawson; and a sister, Julie (Dave) Haab of New Paris.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Gary, and James Showalter.
A 1962 graduate of New Paris High School, Mr. Showalter served in the U.S. Army, 101 st Airborne division from 1965-67. After his honorable discharge he began a career as a lineman for NIPSCO, serving 31 years before retiring in 1999.
Burton was a member of People’s Bible Church. He loved God, his family, and his country!
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. There will also be visitation Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Rev. John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery with military honors.
