Boudewyn Westerbeek, 86, of Goshen, passed away Friday afternoon, March 28, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born March 11, 1928 in Sassenheim, Netherlands to Cornelius and Gertrude (Plaat) Westerbeek. On May 29, 1950 he married Eileen F. Brower in Orange City, Iowa. She died October 29, 2003. He is survived by four children, Gretchen (Jerold) Van Dyke of Sarasota, Florida, Margo (John) Nafziger, Karen (Andrew) Wollman and Carl (Barbara) Westerbeek, all of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Kara (Kevin Zook) and Chris (Rebekah) Westerbeek, Kristen (Ben Miller) and Todd (Erin) Van Dyke, Matthew, Andrew (Christina) and Case Nafziger, and Evan and Elliot (Angel) Wollman; two great-granddaughters, Cameron Van Dyke and Ella Westerbeek; and three siblings, Grietje De Geus and Rudolf and Leo Westerbeek, all of the Netherlands. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Cornelius Westerbeek. Mr. Westerbeek moved to the U.S. in 1946 and worked in the flower bulb business in several areas of the country before moving to the Goshen area in 1951 to work at Kunderd's Gladiola Farm. He also worked briefly as a brick mason and then for more than 40 years as an insurance agent for Prairie Farmer. He was a member of the Goshen Christian Reformed Church, now the Greene Road Church. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014, funeral service will be conducted at the Greene Road Church with Rev. Dave Van Der Wiele officiating. Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
