Bonne Kay Bartlett

Bonne Kay Bartlett, 87, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Cathedral City, California.

Bonne was born on September 30, 1937, in Goshen, Indiana, to Robert T. and Esther M. Bartlett.   She graduated from Goshen High School in the class of 1955.

After graduating from Parkview Nursing School in Fort Wayne, she began her nursing career in Indianapolis at Riley Children’s Hospital then at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare and service led her westward in the late 1960s to California, where she met her lifelong partner, Clyde.

Bonne lived in Sausalito where she worked at Kaiser-Permanente and Presbyterian Hospitals. During this time of cultural transformation and social change, she played a pivotal role in establishing the Haight- Ashbury Free Clinic- an initiative that provided free medical care to the underserved population during a critical era.  Over time she transitioned into corporate wellness at Pacific Bell and other varied nursing disciplines until she retired in 2013. Her dedication spanned decades and touched countless lives through both clinical care and innovative wellness programs.  She spent her retirement years in the Palm Springs area.

Bonne had a deep love for music and found joy playing the piccolo, flute, and piano. She loved to travel and made many memorable trips and travels.  She especially cherished time spent with her beloved dogs—Campy, Yogi, and most recently PeeWee, who remained her constant companion until his passing earlier this year.

Throughout their many years together, Bonne and Clyde cultivated a wide circle of lifelong friends. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones— friends and family—and always extended warmth and  kindness to those around her. She was a masterful host and tour guide to her guests highlighting the culture and the many iconic sites in the beautiful Bay Area.  Her fun-loving nature was apparent to all.

Bonne is survived by her devoted partner of many years, Clyde Simms; her sister Barbara Miller (Tod Lehman); nephews Marc (Brenda) Miller, Todd Miller, and Scott Miller; as well as great-nephew and nieces Jacob, Tiffany, Katelyn, and Brittany Miller.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
