Billy “Joe” Havens, 84 of Millersburg died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at home.
He was born November 28, 1935 in Bonny, Kentucky to Clayton and Daisie (Murphy) Havens.
On January 30, 1993 he married Shirley (Nicodemus) Hapner.
She survives along with two daughters, Jolene (Roger) Yoder of Shipshewana and Rosalind (Ty) Marshall of Warsaw; step-children, April (Rod) Hostetler of New Paris, Sherri Lyn, and Randy Hapner, both of Warsaw; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; a sister, Ruth (Phil) Hamilton of Elkhart; and a brother, Mike Havens of Milford.
Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Thelma (Shaum) Havens, a sister, Betty Ebey and brothers, Jim, Don, Ralph and Junior Havens.
Joe served in the National Guard for eight years and retired from Johnson Controls after 46 years of employment. He participated in the Johnson Controls Retirement Club.
A certified welder, Joe modified and raced sprint cars for many years, traveling throughout the area. He enjoyed all types of antique Vehicles.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and Thursday, January 23, 2020 beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.
