Beverly "Joan" Hathaway, 78, died Tuesday morning, May 25, 2010, at Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett, Indiana. She was born January 11, 1932, in Muncie, to the late Charles R. and Ethel B. (Jones) Lewellen. She married Rev. Lewis A. Hathaway in Muncie on January 14, 1956. He died January 22, 2002. A Goshen resident from 1959 to 1976, she moved back to the area in 2000. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where she was very involved with missions and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Hathaway enjoyed traveling, reading and her family. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Tom) Wilhelm of Garrett and Trinda (Eric) Copeland of Cedar Lake, Indiana; a son, Jim (Connie) Hathaway of Muncie; 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lynn Alber of Goshen; and a brother, Charles (Bea) Lewellen of Santa Fe Springs, California. She was preceded in death by a son, Max Hathaway; and a grandson, Ira. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 28 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at St. Mark's United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Tarner officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Operations Classroom Missions, c/o St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
