Bettye F. Holderread

Bettye F. Holderread, 64, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, January 29, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Wakarusa on September 30, 1944, to the late Loren “Snow” and Lela Mae (Weimer) Evans.  She married Dick Holderread on July 18, 1964, in Elkhart.  He survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Holderread graduated from Concord High School in 1962 and she attended Manchester College.  She was a member of the Dunlap Methodist Church.  She had worked at Selmers and Meijer. She is survived by her husband, a son, Roger Holderread of Elkhart, two step-sons, Richard Holderread of Goshen, and David (Nancy) Holderread of Lansing, Michigan; two granddaughters, six step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Vivienne) Evans of Naples, Florida. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Charles Edward Holderread, and a half brother, Tom Evans. Friends may call 12 to 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2009, at the funeral home where a 1:30 p.m., funeral service will be held.  Rev. Joe Smith of the Dunlap Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery, Milford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dunlap Methodist Church.
