Betty J. Zentz

March 6, 1922 — April 4, 2017

Betty J. Zentz, 95, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been the last week.

She was born March 6, 1922 in Goshen to G.A. and Gertrude (North) Haberstich.

On June 2, 1946 she married Donald W. Zentz in Goshen.  He died August 27, 1997.

Survivors include four sons, Craig W. (Pat) Zentz, Kevin B. (Christine) Zentz, and Brian C. (Margaret) Zentz, all of Goshen and David M. (Margie) Zentz of Avon; six grandchildren, Brett, Jason, Geoffrey and Greggory Zentz, Carrie Hill and Sara Yambert; and nine great-grandchildren, Gracie, Emma, Kendall, Chloe, Annika, Sage, Katie, Jackson and Theo.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Haberstich.

A lifelong Goshen resident, Betty was a 1940 graduate of Goshen High School.  She was a member of First United Church of Christ for more than 60 years where she was active in the Women’s Guild and held various church offices.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, a caring mother and beloved grandmother.  Betty enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching tennis and Indiana University basketball games. She had a beloved Sammy-Cat.

Friends may call Friday, April 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   A private family graveside service will be conducted at Oakridge Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the Elkhart County Humane Society or Goshen Home Care and Hospice .
