Betty Lou Yates

Betty Yates, 75, of Syracuse died at her home early Tuesday morning, November 26, 2013. She was born April 8, 1938 in Hutchinson, Kansas, and adopted by William and Mabel Randles. On July 25, 1964 she married Russell Yates in Shelbyville. He survives along with four sons, Gordon West of Bozeman, Montana, David (Vicki) West of Phoenix, Arizona, Russell Lee Yates of Millersburg, and Kenneth (Patty) Yates of Goshen; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Catherine (Menno) Hochstetler of Nappanee, and Sylvia (Jake) Hochstetler of Milford. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jeremy Yates; two sisters, Maxine Shaffer and Edna Hochstetler; and a brother Billy Lee Randles. Mrs. Yates was a member at Grace Community Church, Goshen. She worked at several area businesses including; Thwaits Chiropractics, Syracuse, Proof Company, Goshen, and Essex in Ligonier. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 funeral service will take place. Pastor Jon Rauch, Grace Community Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace Community Church Young at Heart Ministry.
