Betty Lou Wingard

Betty Lou Wingard, 77, passed away Friday afternoon, May 29, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital after a short illness. She was born to William and Elizabeth (Miller) Yoder on August 15, 1931, in Garnett, Kansas.  She married Harley J. Wingard on October 14, 1950, in Middlebury, Indiana.  He and her parents both preceded her in death.  A resident of the area since 1930, Betty was a homemaker all her life.  She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Middlebury.  Her favorite leisure activity was spending time with her close circle of friends.  She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Elaine (Jim) Wyse and Debra Jean Wingard, both of Middlebury, Indiana;  two sons, Terry Wayne (Ivette) Wingard of Middlebury, Indiana, and Jimmy Dean Wingard of Shipshewana, Indiana; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; one step-great-grandson; and three brothers, Clarence (Violet) Yoder of Sarasota, Florida, Billy Yoder of Goshen, and Bob (Marsha) Yoder of New Paris, Indiana.  Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2009, at First Mennonite Church of Middlebury, Indiana. A 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009, memorial service will be conducted at First Mennonite Church of Middlebury with Reverends Linford Martin and Pamela Yoder officiating. A procession will leave the First Mennonite Church at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, for Grace Lawn Cemetery of Middlebury. Memorial contributions may be made out to ADEC or First Mennonite Church for the Pavilion Project.
