Betty R. Welsh

Betty R. Welsh, 89, of Goshen died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at home.

She was born September 19, 1928 in South Bend to Benhard and Clara (Menne) Ebersold.

On April 16, 1950 she married Richard L. Welsh in South Bend.  He died June 22, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Gerald) Straw and Sharon Welsh, both of Goshen; a son, Dan A. Welsh of  Scottsdale, Arizona; three grandchildren, Darby Straw, Susan Shidler and Courtney Bowen; and five great-grandchildren, Lexsis Bowen, Brooklyn, Adysen, Kinzie and Torrence Straw.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Ebersold.

A 1946 graduate of South Bend Riley High School, Betty and some of her classmates, “The Lunch Bunch”, have met every month since graduation.  She also met every Tuesday with “Betty’s Posse” at their homes to go out for lunch together and play cards.

Betty was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, formally Trinity Lutheran, Goshen, and former member of Maplecrest Country Club.  She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and spending time in Florida every winter.

Visitation will be Friday, December 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen and Saturday, December 2, 2017, one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service at Faith Lutheran Church, 202 S. Greene Road, Goshen.  Pastors Jessica King and John Hickey will officiate.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
