Betty Jean (Barth) Van Scoik, 92, of Warsaw died Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born January 21, 1931 in Warsaw to Ernest and Vivian (Chupp) Barth.
On December 11, 1948 she married Paul Van Scoik in Edwardsburg, Michigan. He died on April of 2007.
Betty is survived by two sons, Bud (Claudia) Van Scoik of Akron and David (Cathy) Van Scoik of Leesburg; three grandchildren, Scotty Van Scoik, Raeanne (Chris) Stevens and Georginna (Glenn) Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Tya (Nome) Noringhang, Carter Stevens, Natalie Stevens, Savanah Smith, Landon Stevens, Haley Smith, Zoey Van Hawk and Talon Van Hawk; great-great-grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia Noringhang and one sister, Wilma (James) Tobey.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzan Elaine Van Scoik; two sisters, Lillian Brandenburg and Louise Sponseller and five brothers, Robert, William and Wilbur Barth, Clifford and Donald Wolf.
Betty moved to Warsaw in 1998 from Edwardsburg, Michigan. Betty and Paul started many factories including Bee-Line Travel Trailers, Road King Travel Trailers and Work King Garden Tractors. As a break from the factories, they opened Paul’s Used Cars in Elkhart.
Betty was an active member of the Iron Horsemen Motorcycle Club for 50 years and an avid bowler of many different leagues.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Blumenburg will officiate.
Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
