Betty D. Stutsman, 98, of Goshen, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 surrounded by her family.
She was born December 24, 1927, in Goshen to Clarence and Wilma (Bunger) Gouker.
On June 22, 1947, she married the love of her life, Richard J. Stutsman, in Goshen. Together they shared 67 years of marriage until his passing in August of 2015.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Elaine (Randy) Sharkey of Syracuse; as well as 5 grandchildren and her beloved great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Stutsman; and her brother, Donald Gouker.
Betty devoted her life to caring for her family and home, a role she treasured deeply. While she worked a few jobs following high school, her greatest pride and joy was being a homemaker. She also faithfully volunteered for many years at Goshen Hospital, where her kindness and willingness to serve touched many lives. Betty was also a devoted member of Maple Grove Community Church.
She taught us that a beautiful life is made up of simple moments shared with people you love. At 98, she still found excitement in the little things, treasured every moment with her family, and was always ready to go on an adventure and make another memory. She will be remembered as one of the easiest people to love, and one we will miss forever.
Private family services will be held and burial will take place at West Goshen Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Maple Grove community church or Friendship flights foundation.
