Betty J. Snodgrass, 83, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, July 8, 2006, at her home after an extended illness. She was born July 23, 1922, in Goshen, to Noble and Mable (Lung) Snyder. On December 14, 1953, in Goshen, she married James O. Snodgrass. He survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Snodgrass, graduated from Goshen High School in 1941. In 1971, along with Lu Hartman, she started the girls summer softball program. She coached junior bowling for 40 years and served as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Campfire leader for many years. In 1998 she became a charter member of the Goshen Bowling Hall of Fame. She also served as President of the VFW Post 985 Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Snodgrass is survived by her husband; a son, Jeff S. Snodgrass; a daughter, Sherry L. Snodgrass, a foster son, Robert (Shonda) Hostetler; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Snyder; all of Goshen. Also surviving are three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LaMar “Red” Snyder in 1998. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her cremains will be buried in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Hospital Care at Home Hospice.
