Betty J. Severs, 92, of New Paris, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She was born February 22, 1925 in Elkhart to Ira C. Snow and Mary M. (Burk) Ford.
She married Isaac L. Ates in 1944, they later divorced. On August 9, 1958 she married Richard W. Severs in Elkhart. He died July 4, 1987.
Survivors include daughters, Carole (Tom) Root of Roscoe, Illinois, Nancy (Richard) Borkholder of New Paris, Dixie (Tom) Russell and Julia (John) Ellis, both of Elkhart; sons, Charles (Jan) Severs of Marietta, Georgia, Tom (Mary) Severs of Grapevine, Texas, William Ates and Robert Ates, both of Elkhart; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Snow, a sister, Kathleen Freisner, a grandson, Johnny Albert and a great-granddaughter, Erika Beachy.
Betty was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Elkhart. She later attended First United Methodist Church, Goshen. She retired from Miles Laboratory, Elkhart, where she worked in quality control and packaging.
Friends may call Saturday, February 17, 2018 beginning at 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Terry Tyler will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or the American Heart Association.
