Betty Irene Rink

Betty Irene Rink of Goshen passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Greencroft Health Care at the age of 93.

She was born October 3, 1923 in Muskegon, Michigan to Kenneth and Irene (Blair) Barnes.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Carol) Rink and daughter, Ellen (Phillip) Straw; two granddaughters, Sheri (Kevin) Miller and Shannon (Ken) Cross; two great-granddaughers; a great-grandson; a great-great-granddaughter; three step-grandsons and a step-granddaughter.

Betty’s husband, Ellis; her parents and a sister preceded her in death.

When Betty was six, her family moved to Northland in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where her grandfather owned a logging camp.  When she was in the 9th grade (1937) she moved to Schoolcraft, Michigan to live with her paternal grandparents and graduated from Schoolcraft High School at the age of 16.

In 1941 she met Ellis Rink and they married in 1942.  During her married life she helped with the farming, owned the Millersburg Restaurant with her sister-in-law, managed Eby Pines Restaurant and retired from Society Bank as a commercial loan assistant after 22 years.

She loved her family, loved to help people and to feed anyone walking through her door.  She and Ellis also enjoyed traveling when they could get away from farming chores.

Friends may call Monday, June 19, 2017  from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Friends may also call one hour prior to 10 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Zion Community Church, Millersburg.  Rev. Steve Campagna will officiate.

Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Greencroft Healthcare or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
