Betty I. Malone

Betty I. Malone, 89, of Goshen died Saturday, June 24, 2023 at her residence.

She was born December 28, 1933 in Goshen to George and Violet (Lewallen) Koch.

On January 26, 1950 she married Max E. Malone. He died April 12, 2012.

Survivors include two sons, Steven (Gwyn) Malone of Syracuse and Scott Malone of South Bend; four grandchildren, Ben, Casey (Jessie), Lori and Bryan Malone; and three step-grandchildren, Pete, Drew and Dusty Phares.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Koch; and three sisters, Marge Pressler, Dorothy Osterloo and Helen Leemon.

Betty was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren since 1938 where she taught Sunday School for 30 years, mostly the 4th grade class.

She graduated in 1951 from Goshen High School and after raising her family, worked for the Elkhart County Treasurer’s Office from 1973-1995. Betty then worked for Moore Photography for another 10 years before retirement.

Betty was a former member of the Women’s Club of Goshen, and enjoyed volunteering at The Window; especially on First Fridays.

A private family graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery.
