Betty Lou Huffer, 76, of Elkhart, died late Sunday afternoon, December 26, 2010, at Valley View Healthcare where she had been the last six months. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Nappanee, to the late William and Dolly (Guard) Corwin. She married Charles Marshall Huffer in Elkhart County on July 7, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1979. Surviving are two sons, Tom (Marlene) Huffer of Elkhart and George Arthur (Polly) Huffer of Santa Monica, California; a daughter, Kathleen Diane (Dennis) Stone of Nappanee; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Eugene) Cobb of Brownsville, Texas; and a brother, Richard (Margaret) Corwin of Topeka, Kansas. Mrs. Huffer worked in sales for Goldman Jewelers, Indianapolis. One of her greatest life accomplishments was obtaining her pilot’s license and she often flew solo in her younger years. She enjoyed traveling. There will be no services. Yoder-Culp Crematory is handling her cremation.
