Betty Isabelle Berkey

Betty Isabelle Berkey, 92, died early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. Mrs. Berkey was born to the late William and Louise (Whitaker) Nagle. On April 25, 1953, she married Gordon D. Berkey, in Goshen. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1998. A Goshen resident her whole life, Mrs. Berkey worked at NIBCO in assembly, she retired in 1982. She also worked at Goshen Rubber, Pine Manor, and Goshen Chase Bag Company. She is survived by two sons, Sherman LeRoy (Vicki) Holdread, New Paris, Gary Gordon Berkey, Goshen; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one brother Robert Nagle. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 8, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The Rev. John Dicken of Grace Bible Baptist Church, New Paris, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery following the funeral service. Memorials may be made out to American Cancer Society.
