Betty Grace Anderson

Betty Grace (Loughner) Anderson, 77, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Greenleaf Rehabilitation and Living Center, where she had recently been admitted. She was born March 31, 1935, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to James Albert and Marie Elizabeth (O'Brien) Loughner. She married Lloyd H. Anderson, Jr. June 27, 1953 in Latrobe. He died July 22, 2000. She is survived by six children, twins, Debra L. Anderson of Elkhart and Diane L. (Harold) Schmidtendorff of Springfield, Missouri, Donna J. Weeks of South Boardman, Michigan, Donald R. "Buddy" (Debra S. Ciber) Anderson of Chauvin, Louisiana, Connie L. (Kenneth) Evans of Shipshewana and Helen M. (James) Carrell of Union, Michigan; ten grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Isabelle Virginia Bruggeman of Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Carol Jean Staniscia of Derry, Pennsylvania; and a half sister, Mary Lou Agustino of Derry, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Darlene Marie Jenkins February 4, 2006; a grandson, Nathaniel O. Bianchini; a step-grandchild, Kelcie; two brothers, James Edward and Thomas Leonard Loughner; five sisters, Martha Jane Reffo, Nancy Lee Loughner, Rita Lauray Reffo, Janet Marie Manno and Marian May Banocy; and a half-brother, Paul Millard Loughner. Mrs. Anderson moved from Latrobe to reside in White Pigeon, Michigan in 1968 and lived there for 37 years before moving to Elkhart in 2007 to make her home with her daughter, Debra, who has been her primary caregiver the last six years. A 1953 graduate of Derry Township High School, Pennsylvania, she was a homemaker and also worked as a spot welder at Ventline, Bristol, for three years. Betty was very artistic and wrote various poems for family and friends, with samples of her work receiving recognition and appearing in published volumes. She was an accomplished seamstress and also created many crocheted handicrafts. An organist, she was a member of the Sharps and Flats organ club. She was a member of the Mottville Community Church. Friends may call 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 6, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor David Bell, Mottville Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Mottville Cemetery, Mottville, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mottville Community Church.
