Bette E. Blough

Bette E. Blough, 59, of Goshen, died 10:40 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by her children.

She was born on September 26, 1961 in Goshen to Robert and Clara (Lehman) Leer

She was married to Mark Douglas Blough on October 19, 1985, at St. Marks United Methodist Church. Mark died March 31, 1995, at the age of 32. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include both of her children, Michael (Laura) Blough of Goshen and Jenelle (Humberto, Jr.) Romo of Yorktown; five grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Newell of Goshen and Cheryl Warner of Goshen; a brother, Edward Leer of Champaign, Illinois.

Bette worked in real estate for most of her life, receiving her real estate license in 1997. She made a switch in her career and worked for the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department for over 10 years.

She loved being a part of her children’s activities and served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader, and 4-H Club Leader. Later in life she enjoyed frequent travel adventures with her closest friends and spending as much time with her grandchildren as possible, one of her greatest joys. Although friends and family were important to her, her ultimate passion was serving Jesus Christ with her life and seeing others grow in their love for Christ. She was a member of Grace Community Church and could be found frequently serving in the kid’s ministry, at the café, and at many outreach events.

Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2021, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 20076 County Road 36, Goshen. There will also be visitation from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 16, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Jim Brown and Jon Rauch.

Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.

Memorials may be given to Grace Community Church.
