Berta Christle

Berta K. Christle, 77, of Goshen died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Esther’s House – Center for Hospice, Elkhart.

She was born June 30, 1947 in McRoberts, Kentucky to Walter and Elsie (Richardson) Owens.

Survivors include two children, Andrew (Fawn) Christle-Sendling of Tucson, Arizona and Denine (Jason) Caldwell of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Christle, a son Mark Matthew Alan Christle; and all her siblings.

Berta worked as a waitress and in the clothing department of Walmart, where she retired from in 2007. In her earlier days, she enjoyed fishing and being out in nature.

Volunteer work brought her joy, whether it was crocheting stocking caps for new born babies and cancer patients, or putting together care packages for men and women over seas.

She was a member of the VFW, DAV, and Salvation Army, where she enjoyed bingo night.

According to her wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp crematory.

A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Goshen Salvation Army.  A private inurnment will take place at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
